Khanh Hoa: Seafood production reaches 106,890 tons
As of this year, Khanh Hoa province has recorded a total seafood output of 106,890 tons, marking a 0.97% increase compared to the same period last year.
This includes 90,091 tons from fishing activities and 16,799 tons from aquaculture. However, despite the high production levels, the market for certain seafood products, such as skipjack tuna and green lobsters, has faced difficulties, causing concerns among local producers.
To address market challenges and improve incomes, local authorities and relevant agencies have actively implemented measures to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, aiming to lift the European Commission’s “yellow card” warning. They have also rolled out timely support policies for fishermen. In aquaculture, authorities regularly oversee farming areas to ensure disease prevention and environmental sustainability. Additionally, they provide guidance to local farmers on adopting aquaculture practices that align with market demands.
