The preliminary decision on POR15 for Vietnamese pangasius

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the United States Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced on its internal system the preliminary results of the 15th period of review (POR15) for period 01 August 2017 – 31 July 2018 regarding Vietnamese pangasius exported to the US market.

Particularly, the initial duty amount imposed on the imperative respondents is 0.00 USD/kg and voluntary respondents while the national duty amount is at 2.39 USG/kg. The amount is much less than the previous results (POR14, with duty ranging from 1.37 to 2.39 USG/kg). DOC announced to issue the results within 120 days from the effective date of the preliminary results (February 2020 intentionally).

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam suggests that Vietnamese exporters should fully cooperate with DOC and the Ministry for positive results.  Vietnam’s pangasius exports to the US market reached US$550 million in 2018 and the US is still the biggest importer of Vietnamese seafood in 2019. Plus, the positive preliminary results can help the pangasius companies to solve their difficulties.

Vietnamese pangasius exported to the US market has been imposed the anti-dumping duty since 2003 with the period of review being carried out every year. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam keeps following up the courses of the event, cooperate, draw up plan and protect local companies with reasonable benefits.
