DNV certifies HTX Thanh Dat to the ASC Farm Standard, supporting responsible shrimp aquaculture in Vietnam
The certification verifies the cooperative’s farming practices against recognized environmental and social requirements for responsible aquaculture.
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 24 August 2026 – Global assurance provider DNV has officially awarded the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Farm Standard certification to HTX Thanh Dat. This milestone underscores the Vietnamese seafood company’s dedication to sustainable shrimp production and enhances transparency throughout its international supply chains.

As aquaculture plays an increasingly vital role in meeting the surging global demand for seafood, producers face mounting expectations to mitigate their environmental footprint and uphold high social standards across the supply chain.
The ASC Farm Standard provides a robust framework for addressing key environmental and social aspects of aquaculture production. Its requirements cover areas including biodiversity and ecosystem protection, responsible use of natural resources, fish health and welfare, and working conditions.
Through third-party assessment, HTX Thanh Dat delivers enhanced transparency to its supply chain, proving its alignment with internationally recognized benchmarks for responsible aquaculture.
“Achieving the ASC Farm Standard certification is an important milestone for Thanh Dat High-Tech Shrimp Farming Cooperative. It supports our transition toward cleaner, more sustainable and responsible aquaculture while creating greater opportunities to connect with buyers and seafood processors serving international export markets. More importantly, we believe this achievement can contribute to improving the income and livelihoods of our cooperative members and create long-term value for the local community. By strengthening transparency and traceability, protecting the environment, working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting community sustainability, we aim to build greater trust with customers and contribute to a more responsible shrimp supply chain.” – Mr. Tran Thanh Trieu, Chairman of the Board and Director at Thanh Dat High-Tech Shrimp Farming Cooperative.
“Responsible aquaculture starts at farm level. Certification to the ASC Farm Standard provides an independent assessment of how environmental and social requirements are integrated into farming operations. HTX Thanh Dat’s achievement demonstrates its commitment to strengthening responsible shrimp production and building trust across the seafood value chain.” – Rachel Ng, Food & Beverage Manager, DNV Southeast Asia & Oceania.
This certification reflects the growing importance of third-party assurance within the aquaculture sector. As seafood buyers, retailers and other stakeholders increasingly seek credible information on how seafood products are produced and sourced, third-party certification can help producers demonstrate responsible practices, strengthen transparency and support market confidence across global seafood supply chains.
