Directorate of Fisheries supports fishermen on their offshore fishing trips

On the morning of 19 September, The Người lao động newspaper held a signing ceremony to be a party of the program “One million national flags together with fishermen on their offshore fishing trips”. The event was attended by Trần Đình Luân, General Director of the Directorate of Fisheries, leaders of ministries, sectors, Navy force, Marine Police, Fisheries Resources Surveillance, the People’s committees of coastal provinces and cities, and companies.

The program “One million national flags together with fishermen on their offshore fishing trips” was launched on 01 June 2019 during the event The week of Vietnam’s Ocean and Islands 2019 which was held by the Ministry of Natural resources and Environment in BạcLiêu and intentionally covers 28 coastal provinces and cities. The program was paid special attention by the Central, business community, and farmers. Over more than three months, nearly forty thousand national flags have been given to the farmers in Bạc Liêu, Cà Mau, Quảng Ngãi, Kiên Giang, Khánh Hòa, Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu, Nghệ An, Bình Định, Bình Thuận, and Hồ Chí Minh city.

The signing ceremony was supported by the Navy Region no.2, Navy Region no.4, Directorate of Fisheries, Saigontourist, Saigon Co.op, VinGroup, Nam Á Bank, and Ho Chi Minh Open University. The organizers gave sixty thousand national flags to the representatives from the Navy Region no.2 and no.4, one thousand to Cần Giờ district People’s Committee (of Cần Thơ city) as the token gestures. Besides, they gave the national flags and first aid kits to 10 typical farmers of Cần Giờ.

The General Director of Directorate of Fisheries Trần Đình Luân said that was a meaningful and practical program. Either do more than ninety-six thousand fishing boats participated into offshore fishing trips for the national economicdevelopment or protect the ocean territory of the country. However, the current situation has created not only favorable conditions but also difficulties, such program is necessary to accompany the fishermen during their trips.
