Binh Dinh: Two fishing boats fined for violations in fisheries activities
On May 31 and June 1, the Command of the Border Guard (BDBP) of Binh Dinh province issued decisions to impose administrative fines on two fishing boats for violating regulations in fisheries activities.
In implementing a high-priority mission to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing as directed by the Prime Minister, BDBP of Binh Dinh province has deployed comprehensive measures to prevent violations, strictly enforcing penalties.
During the inspection and monitoring of fishing boats, Cat Khanh Border Guard Station, BDBP of Binh Dinh province discovered that the fishing boat KG-94435-TS, captained by Duong Thanh Duoc, 44 years old, residing in District 9, Duong Dong Ward, Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang province, failed to maintain the operation of the vessel monitoring system while at sea. This boat has a maximum length of 15 to less than 24 meters.
Additionally, the command stripped the captains and boats involved of their certification rights for 4.5 months. Another fishing boat, BĐ-92249-TS, captained by Tran Nhanh, 43, from My Thang Commune, Phu My District, Binh Dinh province, was penalized for not complying with regulations when the vessel monitoring system was broken. Based on the violation records, BDBP decided to impose an administrative fine of 25 million VND on each captain and boat for these violations.
Moreover, Cat Khanh Border Guard Station, and BDBP of Binh Dinh province, also fined 12 crew members who were not listed in the crew roster (750,000 VND each) and one owner for failing to purchase insurance for 15 crew members (with a fine of 17.5 million VND).
