Cần Thơ: A company forced to destroy shrimp broodstocks

A company in Cần Thơ city has just been forced to destroyits shrimp broodstocks after being checked upon the instructions by the Directorate of Fisheries.

Upon the instructions by the Directorate of Fisheries (under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the Cà Mau provincial Fisheries Sub-department checked the document of imported aquatic breed, production and nursery conditions, and regulations of aquatic breed management of Nguyễn Chí Hưng Aquatic Breed Ltd,. Co (in Tân Hải commune, Phú Tân district, Cà Mau province). The company imported aquatic breeds from Thailand; however at that time they did not provide Certificates of facilities and nursery of aquatic breed when required.

According to reports, the company fulfilled regulations of importing shrimp broodstocks for production. However  the company’s production facility in Cà Mau did not satisfy the farming requirements and was under repair at that time, they cooperated with TCT joint stock company (in Cần Thơ city) in terms of nursery and production. Nguyễn Chí Hưng Company is preparing for the notification of destroying shrimp broodstocks due to expiration as regulated.

Meanwhile, in Cần Thơ, the Fisheries sub-department has just made a minute requesting the TCT joint stock company (addressed in no.439, Mỹ Lộc hamlet, Mỹ Khánh commune, Phong Điền district, Cần Thơ district) to annul 19 TURBO-M9 shrimp broodstocks. This is attributed to the expiration as regulated in the Circular no.26/2018/TT-BNNPTNT regarding the management of aquatic breed, feed, and environment treatment chemicals in aquaculture.

The Directorate of Fisheries has just issued an official document directing the examination of how these two companies have implemented the aquatic breed management. After that, they received a feedback sent by the Commercial shrimp farming Association, Businesses and Farmers saying that some facilities in Cần Thơ and Cà Mau bought untraceable shrimp broodstocks, used unsuitable product labels, and failed the regulations of aquatic breed management.

For prompt handling, the Directorate of Fisheries requested Cần Thơ provincial Department of Agriculture to check TCT Company’s document of shrimp broodstocks, and standard self-declaration and regulations of aquatic breeds management.

Furthermore, Cà Mau provincial Department of Agriculture was requested to check Nguyễn Chí Hưng Company’s document of shrimp broodstocks, and standard self-declaration and regulations of aquatic breeds management.

These two Departments were required to hand in their reports to the Directorate of Fisheries before October 15.
