Cà Mau Province holds great potential for the development of tourism, renewable energy, and the exploitation and marine aquaculture. Therefore, the province is making efforts to leverage its strengths and make a breakthrough in becoming the center for seafood processing and renewable energy nationwide.
According to the approved planning until 2030 with a vision to 2050, the province has identified three economic regions and five growth poles connected by two economic corridors and four breakthroughs. By 2030, the province aims to establish important functional areas, including industrial zones within the economic zone, high-tech agricultural zones for aquaculture, port and logistics zones, and an expected tourism service zone.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính commended Cà Mau Province for its achievements in planning management. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the conference would contribute to unlocking and mobilizing significant investment resources from both domestic and foreign sources into Cà Mau.
Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính highlighted the challenges faced by provinces in the Mekong Delta, including Cà Mau. The region is currently greatly impacted by climate change, landslides, subsidence, inadequate transportation, and limited human resources.
The Prime Minister suggested that the province focus on resolving “bottlenecks” affecting Cà Mau’s economic development, improving the investment and business environment, developing a high-quality workforce, accelerating digital transformation in administrative management, and providing support for businesses investing in Cà Mau.
Nguyễn Tiến Hải, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council of Cà Mau, emphasized the central task of the province is to proactively propose the issuance of suitable policies for the development of the marine economy. The focal points include investing in the comprehensive Hon Khoai seaport, the Năm Căn economic zone, the provincial power export project, renewable energy, developing transportation infrastructure, urban areas, industrial zones, and disaster prevention infrastructure, and adapting to climate change. The province’s planning also aims to develop industries based on a circular economy model, applying high technology and being environmentally friendly.
