Forcast Q2/2021, seafood exports will increase by 10%
In April 2021, seafood export value was estimated at 650 million USD, for the first 4 months of the year, seafood export reached 2,39 billion USD, up 6,1% over the same period in 2020. VASEP forecasts that seafood export in the second quarter of 2021 will continue to grow about 10%.
According to statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in April 2021, the export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery was estimated at 4,45 billion USD, up 29,1% compared to April 2020, down 13,3% from the previous month. In which, seafood export value reached 650 million USD; the US, Japan, China and South Korea continued to be the top four import markets of Vietnamese seafood, accounting for 57,2% of the total seafood export value. Seafood products with a strong increase in export value such as pangasius by 2,8% and shrimp by 5,5%.
Thus, in the first four months of 2021, export turnover reached 2,39 billion USD, up 6,1% over the same period in 2020. The US, Japan, China and South Korea continued to be the import markets leading of Vietnamese seafood.
In the first 4 months of the year, Vietnam’s seafood exports to Russia increased up 55%. Seafood export to the US market in the first quarter of 2020 reached 335,06 million USD, an increase of 17% over the same period in 2020; exports to the European market (EU) reached 237,82 million USD, up 2.4% over the same period last year; exports to China increased by 15,09% over the first quarter of 2020; exports to South Korea, the first quarter of 2021 reached 161,28 million USD, up 4.7% over the same period last year.
According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) forecasts, seafood exports in the second quarter of 2021 will continue to grow by about 10% and reach a turnover of about 2,1 billion USD. In which, shrimp is forecasted to continue to grow positively 10%, reaching 980 million USD. Seafood export in the second quarter of 2021 was estimated at 816 million USD, up 9,6%.
