Cà Mau: Dried shrimp added to top 10 national specialities list

The Organization of Vietnam Records (VietKings) has announced dried shrimp made in the Mekong Delta province of Cà Mau among 10 famous Vietnamese specialities in 2017.

Dried shrimp is mainly produced in the rural coastal districts in Cà Mau province such as Ngọc Hiền and Trần Văn Thời, where local residents have their own unique recipe. The premium product is currently sold at around 900,000 – 1,200,000 VND (39.6 -57.2 USD) per kilo.

Nine other specialities on the list include Shan Tuyet tea from Suối Giàng, Yên Bái; green bean cake from Hải Dương; chewy sesame peanut candy from Thừa Thiên-Huế, Lý Sơn garlic from Quảng Ngãi, Bầu Đá wine from Bình Định, salangane nest from Khánh Hòa, Buôn Ma Thuột coffee from Đăk Lăk, Ngọc Linh ginseng from Kon Tum and honey from Gia Lai.
