Quarantine imported seafood be solved after seven years of entanglement

On July 28, 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued the Circular no.06/2022/TT-BNNPTNT regarding the amendment and supplement of some articles of Circulars related to quarantine of animals and aquatic animal products. Accordingly, aquatic animal products imported for production and processing for export purposes are exempt from quarantine.

The Circular 06/2022/TT-BNNPTNT amends and supplements the quarantine-free list of animals and aquatic animal products, specifically animals and aquatic animal products imported upon trade relationship, aquatic animal products imported for processing for export purposes, aquatic animal products imported for sampling purposes, aquatic animal products imported for exhibition and fairs, aquatic animal products as exported food being returned or withdrawn.

According to the new Circular, aquatic animal products that must be quarantined include fresh, chilled, and frozen aquatic animal products (embryo, egg, sperm, and larvae of seafood species included); other subjects must be quarantined upon regulations of importing countries or International treaties entered by Vietnam.

Major changes in the Circular 06/2022/TT-BNNPTNT bring good news to seafood processing enterprises as they ease the burden amidst challenges piling up now.
