Developing seafood logistics in Ca Mau province
The southern province of Vietnam, Ca Mau plans to accelerate its economic development in 2017, according to the country’s Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (Vasep).
Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is expected to top VND 37.84 trillion, up 7%, and fishery output, 530,000 metric tons. In order to realize the targets, the province aims to take comprehensive measures to promote economic restructuring, focusing on quality, efficiency and competitiveness. One goal is the development of complete chains for key products, including farmed shrimp.
The fishery sector will also be restructured to improve its efficiency, increasing income for local fishermen. Supervision will be strengthened in production to ensure aquatic product quality, said Vasep.
The province will zone off areas for agro-forestry-fishery product processing with the application of technology to diversify products.
