Vietnam’s seafood imports fell in January 2022
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s importation of seafood of all kinds reached nearly USD 177.35 million in January, down 7.8% as compared to December 2021 and down 3.5% from January 2021.
Most seafood were imported from India, accounting for 12.3% of the country’s total seafood import volume, reaching USD 21.78% USD, down 19.2% as compared to December 2021 and down 22.9% from January 2021.
China was ranked in the second place in terms of import value, accounting for 9.4%, reaching USD 16.73 million, down 2.8% from December 2021 and down 16.9% from January 2021.
Japan was the third with a worth of USD 16.1 million, accounting for 9.1%, down 6.6% from December 2021 but up 16.4% as compared to January 2021.
Imports from Norway declined by 22.9% as compared to December 2021 and 27.9% from January 2021, reaching USD 14.99 million and accounting for 8.5%.
Vietnam experienced a slump in importation of seafood in January as compared to December 2021 and January 2021.
Seafood imports from the FTA-CPTTP market reached USD 24.14 million in January 2022, down 3.3% from December 2021, but up 1.2% from January 2021.
Seafood imports from the FTA-RCEP market reached USD 65.21 million in January 2022, down 7.1% as compared to December 2021 and 6% from January this year.
A worth of USD 10.13 million was recorded in seafood imports from the FTA Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in January 2022, reaching USD 10.13 million, up 15.2% as compared to December 2021 and 3.7% from January 2021.
Vietnam saw a 3.6% decrease in seafood imports from the Southeast Asian market in December 2021, with a worth of USD 22.47%, but experienced a 6.3% increase as compared to January 2021.
