Vietnam’s seafood output reach 6 million tons in the first nine months

The accumulated value of seafood output is estimated to reach 6.1 million tons, up 1.6% compared to the same period last year, reaching 71.6% of the year’s plan, with 2.9 million tons of exploited species and 3.2 million tons of farmed species.

According to reports by the Directorate of Fisheries, total seafood output in the third quarter is estimated to reach 2.3 million tons, with 1 million ton of exploited species and 1.2 million tons of farmed species.

Since earlier this year, the accumulated value has reached approximately 6.1 million tons, up 1.6% compared to the same period last year and reaching 71.6% of the year’s plan, with 2.9 million tons of exploited species and 3.2 million tons of farmed ones.

According to statistics by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the country brought $373.6 million from exporting seafood in the first half of September (from Sep 01 to Sep 15), leaving an accumulated export value of $5.6 billion, equal to 96% of the same period last year, reaching 55.8% of the plan ($10 billion).

As many as 708,436ha has been spent on stocking brackish shrimps, equal to 102% compared to the same period last year and reaching 97.1% of the 2020 plan.

As of Sep 2020, seafood output is estimated to reach 605 thousand tons (equal to 105.6% of the previous year), with 205 thousand tons of black tiger shrimp (equal to 100.8% of the previous year) and 400 thousand tons of white leg shrimp (equal to 108.3% of the previous year).

A total of 2,160ha has been newly spent on pangasius farming, equal to 59.7% of the same period last year, leaving the accumulated area of 4,968ha, equal to 91% of the same period last year. The accumulated output of pangasius in the first nine months is estimated to reach over 1 million tons, equal to 93.6% compared to the same period last year.
