Quảng Ngãi: Sanctions 20 fishing vessels in the peak month against IUU fishing

The Border Guard Command of Quảng Ngãi province said that during the peak month against IUU fishing, the unit sanctioned 20 fishing vessels that violated regulations in fishing activities.

That is the report in an online conference with 28 coastal provinces and cities to summarize the peak period of preventing fishing vessels from illegally, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing by the High Command of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held on the morning of December 2.

Specifically, from October 15 to November 15, 2021, the Quảng Ngãi Border Guard Command coordinated with the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development of provinces, districts, towns and coastal cities to propagate and disseminate information. transform the law on fishing activities for fishermen; organized patrol, inspection and control of nearly 1,000 fishing vessels, more than 7,000 turns of fishermen in and out of sea activities.

Thorough inspection and control, 14 cases of disabling cruise monitoring equipment were detected, 5 cases of ship owners failing to register crew registers and 1 case of possessing electric stimulators for fishing. Quảng Ngãi Border Guard Command administratively sanctioned violations with the amount of VND 370 million; at the same time, revoke the certificate of 14 violating captains within 4 months and 15 days.

In order to put an end to the situation of fishing vessels illegally, unreported and unregulated, the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Border Guard Command continues to promote propaganda and strictly control people fishing, strictly handling cases of intentional violations, repeated violations.
