Vietnam enhance to manage seafood transportation through border gates

To enhance the management of seafood transportation through border gates, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development sent the official document no. 3359/BNN-TY to the Standing committee of the Steering National Committee for fighting against smuggling, commercial frauds and counterfeit goods; People’s Committees of Quảng Ninh, Lạng Sơn, Lào Cai, Cao Bằng, Hà Giang, Lại Châu and Điện Biên. 

According to the Network of Aquaculture Center in Asia-Pacific (NACA), the new virus named Decapod iridescent virus 1 (DIV1) has caused damages to the shrimp sector in China in the last few years.

There is no information on diseases caused by DIV1 in Vietnam. However, to prevent any diseases caused by this virus, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development suggested that the Standing committee of the National Steering Committee 389 should: (1) prevent and promptly detect and strictly handle commercial frauds in importing, transporting and trading post larvae, commercial shrimps and live feed; (2) actively share information and data with the Veterinary agencies, deploy solutions to prevention of disease outbreak in accordance with current regulations; (3) establish working groups of National Steering Committee 389 to go to significant areas to direct and check the synchronous countermeasures to halt and prevent the commercial frauds of transporting post larvae, commercial shrimps and live feed going into Vietnam.
