According to General Statistics Office, pangasius raw material hit record VND 33,000/kg. With this price, farmers can earn a profit of VND 6,000 to 9,000 per kilogram.
As reported by General Statistics Office, seafood output might reach around 1,939 thousand tons in the last three months of 2018, up 6.2% year on year with 1,266.2 thousand tons of fish (+ 6.7%) and 301.2 thousand tonsof shrimp (+ 5.8%).
Total output of seafood is estimated to get 5,501.2 thousand tons in nine months of 2018, up 5.9% year on year, with 3,943.4 thousand tons of fish (+ 6.1%), shrimp 668.5 thousand tons (+ 7.3%), others 889.3 thousand tons (+4.1%).
Price and market have facilitated pangasius farming this year. Pangaius price peaked at VND 33,000/kg at mid-September 2018; with this price farmers could earn a profit of VND 6,000 to 9,000 per kilogram.
Pangasius export has seen considerable growth, especially in large and traditional markets like China, US and EU. In September, pangasius farming area of Vietnam reached 13.9 thousand hectares, up 3% year on year.
Pangasius output is estimated to reach 942.4 thousand tons, up 9.3% with 267.8 thousand tons from An Giang (+21.9%), 134.8 thousand tons from Cần Thơ (+16.6%), and 319.9 thousand tons from Đồng Tháp (+4.5%).
