Kiên Giang: Release over 5 million breeding stocks of shrimp to nature
More than five million shrimp and breeding stocks of shrimp and crabs have been released to the natural ocean for marine resource recovery in Kiên Giang.
In April 01, the ceremony was held by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kiên Giang in association with An Minh provincial People’s Committee in the event of the 64th anniversary of traditional day of Vietnam’s Fisheries (1/4/1959-1/4/2023). Leaders of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kiên Giang, Sub-department of Fisheries, Center of Agricultural Extension, Fisheries Society of Kiên Giang province and An Minh, U Minh Thượng, Vĩnh Thuận districts, breeding stock producing and trading facilities, and local material trading units attended the ceremony.
Nguyễn Hoàng Khải, Vice Chairman of People’s Committee of An Minh district, said that the district had 37km of coastline, a wide fishing ground, rivers and channel system. Seafood exploitation was considered an advantage for social and economic development. Besides exploitation and aquaculture, marine resource recovery should be focused for sustainable development of the fisheries. People’s Committee of An Minh district worked with provincial departments and sectors, and relevant agencies to annually celebrate the event of releasing breeding stocks to the nature at the Xẻo Nhàu estuary. Such an event means a lot to the recovery and rehabilitation of marine resources, biodiversity protection, assuring the sustainability and responsibility of the fisheries.
After the ceremony, attendees came to Xẻo Nhàu estuary to release over five million shrimp and breeding stocks of shrimp and crabs provided by 40 producing and trading facilities and material trading units.
