Pangasius exports to China saw a slumps
As of first half of August, pangasius exports to China reached $271 million, down 22.6% as compared to the same period last year, according to VASEP.
According to VASEP, pangasius exports to China fell continuously due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in stagnant business.
Besides, the decline in exports has resulted in a surplus of white meat fish in China. Thus, Vietnam’s exports of pangasius to this market can’t grow as compared to the same period last year.
Vietnam’s pangasius exporting companies struggled to bring pangasius back to the Chinese market after lockdown was removed. However, they did it in vain.

There are around 120 Vietnam’s companies selling pangasius to China which has been the largest destination of Vietnam with market share accounting for nearly 30% of total Vietnam’s export volume.
