Sóc Trăng: Price of shrimp material declined sharply from earlier this year
As many seafood businesses have not received orders, shrimp prices are falling sharply. The price white leg shrimps, size 20 pcs/kg, reduced up to 70,000 dong/kg from earlier this year.
On April 18, Tuan Phat Seafood Ltd.,Co (headquartered in Trần Đề district of Sóc Trăng province) bought 13 tons of white leg shrimp size 70-80 pcs/kg which were reared in Cù Lao Dung district. And as such, farmers earned over 1.3 billion dong revenue and about 400 million dong profit after production costs.
A pond owner in Chợ hamlet of Trung Bình commune, Trần Đề district earned 1.1 billion dong when selling 10 tons of shrimp size 49 pcs/kg. Even though the output of shrimp here was less than in Cù Lao Dung, he earned 400 million dong profit thanks to big size shrimp.
Lưu Trường Giang, a sales representative of Tuan Phat Seafood Ltd.,Co, said that the price of white leg shrimp size 20 pcs/kg was down to 210,000 dong/kg, 70,000 dong/kg lower than the last two months.
White leg shrimp size 25 pcs/kg are sold at 165,000 dong/kg, size 30 pcs/kg are sold at 140,000 dong/kg, size 40 pcs/kg are sold at 113,000 dong/kg, size 90 pcs/kg are sold at 90,000 dong/kg, and size 100 pcs/kg are sold at 85,000 dong/kg. Small shrimp are sold at 20-30 million dong less than the last two months.
According to leaders of seafood businesses, such a decline was attributed to order insufficiency. They hope that the shrimp market will have good signs with rising prices after April 30 (Reunification Day of Vietnam) when new orders are placed.
