Prime Minister has given his approval for the policies to support deep sea fishing while considering the project of developing offshore exploitation and taking farmers to overseas coastal area for fishing.
Offshore fishing is expected to prevent and stop boats from fishing in overseas coastal areas, which fulfills the commitment of IUU prevention and enhance corporation with other countries in the region and international fisheries management organizations.
Up to 2020, enterprises and farmers will be taken to some countries i.e. Brunei, Papua New Guinea and Micornesia, which already enter into an agreement of fisheries cooperation with Vietnam, to exploit and purchase their marine products. The project is firstly implemented in three provinces QuảngNgãi, Tiền Giang, Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu.
Between 2020 and 2025, Vietnam will call for further cooperation with other nations and international coastal areas where they already have an agreement in fisheries cooperation. WCCFC and IOTC are coastal areas which are managed by regional fisheries organizations. The project is aimed to expand the exploitation linking chain to provinces i.e. Bình Định, Khánh Hòa, Bình Thuận, Bến Tre, Kiên Giang, Cà Mau and others.
All fuel will be paid for one way to any boat attending the trip from Vietnam’s port to coastal areas in accordance with the cooperation agreement. The payment is made after the boats finish their exploitation cooperation in foreign countries and come back to Vietnam.The boats will be paid for 50% of hull insurance premium, 100% of insurance for the crew, and 100% monitor unit which is connected to the satellite to supervise the exploitation.
