Severe aquaculture losses prompt MARD to call for support in production recovery

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has issued an appeal to agencies, organizations, associations, individuals, and businesses to assist in restoring aquaculture production after the recent storm.

Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi) inflicted heavy losses on both lives and property in several northern provinces, with aquaculture production being particularly affected. Preliminary reports indicate that around 19,956 hectares of aquaculture water areas and 4,246 cages were damaged or washed away, resulting in substantial losses in infrastructure and aquaculture activities.

In response to the call from the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and in the spirit of solidarity and mutual aid, MARD urges agencies, organizations, and philanthropists to join hands in providing much-needed support. Contributions can include cash, cages, buoys, nets, broodstock, feed, biological products, chemicals, aquatic veterinary medicines, and other essential supplies to help affected farmers recover and resume production as soon as possible.

MARD will coordinate with local authorities to connect donors with aquaculture farms in need, facilitating direct support for farmers and fishers in the hardest-hit areas.
