Sapien Group eyes lobster export hub in Phu Yen

On June 9, Vice Chairwoman Ho Thi Nguyen Thao of the Phu Yen Provincial People’s Committee met with Sapien Vietnam Group and its strategic partner, South Korea’s Suhyup Mokpo Fisheries Federation, to discuss a proposed export-driven lobster farming zone in Song Cau Town.

The investors proposed launching a pilot phase in 2025, covering 500 hectares of water surface, with the goal of developing a high-tech, globally integrated lobster supply chain that meets international standards for food safety, traceability, and sustainability.

The project aims to modernize the lobster farming sector by establishing a model marine farming area in line with ESG standards, with potential for replication in other coastal provinces. Sapien committed to complying with Vietnamese laws and contributing to the enhancement of Phu Yen’s seafood value and brand.

The Vice Chairwoman welcomed the proposal, recognizing its alignment with the province’s fisheries development strategy for 2021-2025 and its 2030 vision. She also requested relevant departments and local authorities to support the investors in completing necessary procedures to expedite the project’s implementation.
