Vietnam to boost exports of agricultural products and seafood to China

In November 11, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in associated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a Forum “Promote exports of agricultural products and seafood to China”.

In the forum, Ambassador of Vietnam to China Phạm Sao Mai, Consulate General of S.R of Vietnam in Kunning and Nanning, and Trade Commissioner of S.R of Vietnam in China affirmed that good relationship of the two countries, the remarkable recovery of China’s economy and China’s policy in boosting to import agricultural products have create considerable conditions for Vietnam to promote exports in the future. 

However, the Ambassador and Consulate Generals emphasized China’s increasing requirements in quality and technical barriers to trade of seafood and agricultural products, requiring enterprises to promptly improve the quality and production methods.

Minister of Agiculture and Rural Development Lê Minh Hoan suggested Representative Agencies of Vietnam in foreign countries look for more information and consult the Government to develop effective strategies for trade promotion of agricultural products. He emphasized to work together to draw up a general strategy and action plan to boost the export of seafood and agricultural products to China, boost the digital transformation in agriculture to match the data of supply and demand, and promote the model of logistics center upon the public-private partnership.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Nguyễn Minh Vũ said that this moment is suitable for boosting the export of Vietnamese seafood and agricultural products to China. He suggested that Head of Representative Agencies of Vietnam in China continue to work with ministries, sectors, and localities and provide enterprises with further support in boosting the sales of domestic seafood and agricultural products to the Chinese market. Some measures should be promptly implemeted such as basic research of the Chinese market, update information of schemes, policies and regulations of China, rehabilitation and construction of new border gates, increase in numbers of products going through boder gates, product promotion in a large scale; accordingly, create favorable conditions for enterprises and localities selling seafood and agricultural products to China.
