Vietnam targets USD 65 billion in agricultural exports in 2025

Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has released an action plan aiming to boost agricultural, forestry and fishery exports to USD 65 billion in 2025.

The plan seeks to maintain export growth, consolidate traditional markets and develop new ones. It calls for stabilising supply chains, strengthening high-value sectors and taking advantage of 17 bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements with partners such as China, South Korea, Japan and India.

Key measures include increasing shipments in the second and early third quarters to lift total export value in the second half of the year. The ministry also aims to address the trade deficit with the United States and make use of tariff deferrals to support exporters.

Vietnam projects second-half export turnover at around USD 31.6 billion, down 4.8% from a year earlier if current reciprocal tariff levels remain in place.

Priority export categories include seafood to China, Japan, South Korea and ASEAN; wood products to China, Japan and Europe; fresh fruit and spices to South Korea, Japan and ASEAN; and coffee to China, Japan and ASEAN.

Looking beyond 2025, the plan calls for improving product quality and branding to meet international standards and traceability requirements, supporting domestic consumption and diversifying export markets to maintain long-term growth.
