VietShrimp 2025: International Conference on “Greening Farming” for Sustainable Shrimp Industry Development
The international conference "Greening Farming," part of the VietShrimp 2025 Expo, is co-organized by the Vietnam Directorate of Fisheries, the Vietnam Fisheries Society (VINAFIS), and Vietnam Aquaculture Magazine. As a renowned scientific forum, the conference offers in-depth discussions and sustainable solutions to drive the long-term growth of Vietnam’s shrimp industry and aquaculture sector.
Mounting pressures from climate change and increasingly stringent environmental regulations have compelled Vietnam’s shrimp industry to fast-track the adoption of high-tech solutions and advance sustainable, eco-friendly farming practices. This is not only an inevitable trend but also a crucial strategy for improving product quality, meeting market demands, and boosting international competitiveness.
The VietShrimp 2025 Conference will spotlight sustainable solutions, including eco-friendly shrimp farming models, advanced biotechnology applications, and recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) to minimize emissions and enhance production efficiency. These discussions will not only offer fresh insights but also help shape long-term strategies, empowering the shrimp industry to adapt more effectively to environmental challenges.
The conference features four key discussion sessions:
Session 1: Accelerating the green transformation of Vietnam’s shrimp industry
Chaired by the Directorate of Fisheries, this session will offer a comprehensive overview of Vietnam’s shrimp industry in 2024 and highlight strategic development priorities for 2025.
Session 2: Low-emission shrimp farming
This session highlights innovative models and initiatives that help the shrimp industry reduce emissions and environmental pollution while improving production efficiency and fostering sustainable profitability.
Session 3: Enhancing the shrimp industry supply chain
This session will explore holistic solutions for every critical stage of the shrimp industry, from breeding, feed, and nutrition to medicine and logistics, covering the entire supply chain to enhance product quality and optimize costs.
Session 4: Leveraging technology – Cutting costs in shrimp farming
This session delves into digital solutions, automation, and data analytics to empower farmers with smarter pond management, boost productivity, and reduce reliance on manual labor.
With the participation of leading businesses and top experts in Vietnam, “Greening Farming” is set to become a key strategy for the country’s shrimp industry, harmonizing production growth with ecosystem preservation. At the same time, it guarantees compliance with international standards for traceability and environmental sustainability. Adopting green production models not only reduces emissions but also improves product quality, boosting the competitiveness of Vietnamese shrimp in major markets like the EU, the US, and Japan.
Effective environmental management minimizes disease risks, stabilizes production, and ensures long-term profitability for farmers. As global consumers increasingly prioritize sustainable food, key markets such as Europe and North America are expanding imports of eco-certified seafood. This shift poses a significant challenge but also offers a valuable opportunity for the shrimp industry to leverage emerging trends and invest strategically.
The alignment of supportive policies, favorable market dynamics, and strategic investments in advanced technology will create a solid foundation for building Vietnam’s green shrimp brand and strengthening its global competitiveness.
The VietShrimp 2025 Conference serves as a catalyst for sustainable initiatives, providing a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing, business networking, and strengthened collaboration across the shrimp value chain.
