Shrimp seed production facility by Vietnam-Australia Seafood Corporation is the first company of Vietnam tobe recognized as meeting disease standards. This opens up great opportunities for Vietnamese shrimps to enter strict markets in the world.
According to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the announcement of Vietnam-Australia Seafood Corporation’s shrimp seed facility to be recognized as meeting OIE standards took place in BạcLiêu on 25 November.
MARD says more and more countries in the world impose technical barriers, requiring shrimps and shrimp products to come from countries, regions, or at least facilities that meet OIE disease standards.
Vietnam is one of the leading exporters of shrimps and shrimp products. It is necessary and urgent to plan on building shrimp facilities that satisfy disease standards.
Vice Director of Veterinary Directorate Dương Tiến Thể says since 2015 MARD assigned the Directorate and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bạc Liêu to support Vietnam-Australia Seafood Corporation to set up a production chain of shrimp for disease safety assurance in the province. After two years, the facility of shrimp seed production meets disease safety standards.
Deputy General Director of the Corporation Đặng Quốc Tuấn says it is urgent and necessary to set up specific plans on producing shrimps for disease safety assurance.
The Corporation’s shrimp seed production facility is the first one in Vietnam to be recognized as meeting OIE standards. This is a breakthrough for Vietnam’s shrimp industry and opens up great opportunities for Vietnamese shrimps to enter strict markets in the world.
Deputy Minister of MARD Phùng Đức Tiến says shrimps play important roles in seafood industry. If domestic shrimp companies want to approach international markets, they have to satisfy requirements and standards.
Thus, to increase shrimp export value, Vietnam has to follow technology production chain with 4.0 standard and develop safety farming areas under OIE disease standards.
