An Giang and Đồng Tháp provinces desire to become an Association Center of high quality pangasius breeds production of the region, contributing to increase the Vietnamese pangasius trademark.
In the face of the increasingly serious impact of the climate change in the Mekong Delta, especially summer heat, sea level rise, and salinity intrusion, An Giang and Đồng Tháp are provinces with huge advantages in pangasius farming and processing for export purposes.
People’s Committees of An Giang and Đồng Tháp agreed to submit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for their consideration and approval of the plan of investing into infrastructure and the project of producing high quality pangasius breeds together in Chính Sách and Vĩnh Hòa.
Vĩnh Hòa, in Vĩnh Hòa commune of Tân Châu town, An Giang province, and Chính Sách, in Thường Phước 1 commune of Hồng Ngự district, Đồng Tháp province, are located at the upstream of Tiền river; hence have advantages in water resource, resulting in favorable conditions for pangasius to grow up with the best quality. This will help develop a production center of high quality pangasius broodstocks and hi-tech based commercial pangasius.
The project is funded by VND 350 billion and carried out in a 500ha land. The People’s Committees of An Giang and Đồng Tháp agreed to use the whole area of Vĩnh Hòa and Chính Sách to produce high quality three-level pangasius to provide for the two provinces and the Mekong Delta.
According to evaluation by leaders of An Giang province, that was a milestone for the pangasius sector of An Giang and the Mekong Delta to fully develop. Through enormous investment into the field of pangasius breeds by Viet Uc Corporation, An Giang hopes to become a center of pangasius broodstocks production in the region and contribute to increasing the Vietnamese pangasius trademark.
Through the investment attraction policy by the People’s Committee of An Giang, Vĩnh Hoàn Corporation (in Đồng Tháp) established and built the Vĩnh Hoàn pangasius broodstock production Ltd., Co in Vĩnh Bường hamlet (in Vĩnh Hòa of Tân Châu town, An Giang province), as well as execute the Project of hi-tech based production of three-level pangasius. The project covers 48.3 ha of land and plans to provide 1.6 billion fries and 30 million fingerlings each year.
Vice Chairman of An Giang provincial People’s Committee Trần Anh Thư said that An Giang was mounting efforts to restructure the pangasius sector so as to increase the value and create favorable conditions for enterprises to operate. When the circular economy model is built, the value of pangasius will rise without leaving any negative impacts on the water environment. What matters the most is all materials, even discharges, during the farming, processing and exportation must be used.
