Cà Mau prevented destructive fishing
Cà Mau has just issued an official document directing the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and local institutes to prevent destructive fishing.
So as to promptly prevent local destructive fishing activities, Chairman of Cà Mau provincial People’s Committee Huỳnh Quốc Việt assigned relevant institutes to widely disseminate regulations of fisheries, especially rules of using prohibited chemical substances, toxic, explosives, electricity, destructive fishing gears in marine exploitation.
Besides this, local people must be encouraged and advised to protect marine resources and denounce legal violations related to marine resources exploitation and protection.
Competent agencies must supervise and carry out patrols so as to promptly discover, prevent, and strictly tackle those who commit illegal production, storage, trading, transportation, and use of prohibited chemical substances, toxic, explosives, electricity tools, and destructive fishing gears for the purpose of marine exploitation upon regulations.
From January 01 to July 31, 2022, Cà Mau supervised over 4,420 turns of fishing vessels that lost connection while fishing and specially supervised vessels that lost connection at the territories. Provincial competent authorities made a list of 678 turns of fishing vessels and notified relevant institutes for their cooperation in figuring out the causes to lost connections over ten days, issued 26 notifications and sent to relevant institutes; promptly discovered, verified, and requested 84 fishing vessel trespassing water territories to come back to Vietnam. Moreover, owners of those vessels were requested to commit not to trespass.
