Binh Thuan: Shrimp fry production hits 3.48 billion post-larvae

Shrimp fry production reached around 3.48 billion post-larvae out of a yearly goal of 25.2 billion, meeting 13.8% of the target and rising by 11.4% year-on-year.

In the first quarter of 2025, Tuy Phong district harvested an estimated 14,920 tons of seafood, achieving nearly 25% of its annual target of 60,000 tons. This marks a remarkable 128% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Tuy Phong’s shrimp fry is distributed nationwide, especially to shrimp-farming hubs in the Mekong Delta, where buyers have praised its high quality.

Since the start of the year, Tuy Phong authorities have stepped up efforts to protect aquatic resources. Nine violations have been addressed, including four cases involving electric shock fishing, resulting in fines totaling VND 87.75 million. The district continues its crackdown on illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, following Directive No. 30-CT/TU dated January 16, 2018. This directive outlines urgent measures to strengthen oversight and eliminate local fishing vessels and fishermen from illegally operating in foreign waters.

Authorities have also actively addressed emerging maritime issues such as unauthorized sea area occupation and disputes over coastal fishing grounds.
