Vietnamese businesses eye U.S. agricultural market

From June 1 to 6, nearly 50 Vietnamese agricultural enterprises and industry associations are embarking on a trade promotion mission to the United States, seeking opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation and import key American agri-forestry-aquatic products.

The delegation, led by Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy, will visit Iowa, Ohio, and Washington, D.C. Their itinerary includes meetings with U.S. partners and site visits to explore potential imports such as animal feed ingredients, fertilizers, biological crop protection products, meat, cold-water seafood, and timber.

Participating businesses are aiming to go beyond simply sourcing products. They also seek to acquire scientific and technological solutions to enhance Vietnam’s agricultural value chains, marking a clear shift toward more sustainable and high-tech farming practices.

This visit highlights Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening bilateral agricultural trade, with a focus on increasing imports from the U.S. and fostering a more balanced trade relationship between the two countries.

Minister Do Duc Duy emphasized that while both Vietnam and the U.S. have robust agricultural sectors, their strengths complement rather than compete with each other. With growing collaboration and support from both governments, agricultural ties between Vietnam and the U.S. are deepening, boosting supply chain resilience and competitiveness, ultimately benefiting producers and consumers in both nations.

The trip also reflects Vietnam’s goodwill in building trust within the bilateral agricultural supply chain, further solidifying the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as the two countries mark 30 years of diplomatic relations.
